Meet the maker
Andreas Hudelmayer
Violin making brings together my interests in music, engineering and woodwork. Since opening my own workshop in 2002, I have concentrated on making new instruments and tonal adjustment.
From South Germany to London
I grew up in a music-loving family and trained at the Newark School of Violin Making, graduating with Distinction. My work as a maker and restorer took me to Berlin, and then to London.
Listening to the instrument
I have a particular interest in how acoustics can improve violin making, and regularly collaborate with fellow makers from around the world.
